A year later...

This past weekend, you couldn't escape hearing or reading about Katrina and New Orleans, one year later.
It struck me that many of the same people who are demanding immediate rebuilding of the Crescent City are the same folks who -- if a thunderstorm left a puddle in your yard -- would attempt to get the area declared a wetland and keep you from doing anything with it.
When you consider that New Orleans is basically built on river silt washed down from Minnesota and points south years and years ago, you have to wonder how really viable a full rebuild is... especially given the fact that some hurricane experts are saying we're going into a period where the heaviest blows will be dealt on the Gulf side of the Florida peninsula.
Just a thought.
